Phil’s Kick-Ass Corner

Busy, Busy, Busy……  Ok I have gotten 40% the last couple days which puts me at 40% for the week.  I am not sure why it has been hard for me to just turn on the strict diet this week.  Probably the fact that I will be on vacation this week coming up. Going to Petoskey, MI and it will be hard to be strict during vacation but I am going to work out everyday on vacation.  I am working on programming my week now, I have a k5 scheduled where me an my wife will run and kids will ride their bikes.  I have a Tabatta with Push ups, squats, and sit-ups that we all will do one morning.   If you guys have any fun ideas let me know, I will post our results daily.

Ok is it just me or is the CrossFit Games better than the Olympics, I have been watching as much as possible and I LOVE IT.  It is completely motivating me, so much so that I am going to say this……. Wait for it…….. I will at least compete at the 1st level of this event next year, I believe that is the regional's but Todd you will know more. So there it is, I said it, now it will happen.

I will not see anyone this week so Have fun on me,   BTW Todd is there a Phil WOD, just wondering.

  1. Still reading, even if I don't comment on every single message. Awesome that you're getting your family involved. My husband is starting to show interest on the food side of things and I'm very geeked about that.

A friend posted a link about the evils of sugar... if you have a spare 11 minutes or so, check this out:

  2. ...oops, hit send before I was done... Maybe the sugar info will help on the diet stuff... if not, here's something I've been doing:

We grilled a bunch of chicken today and I put it in containers in 4P and 8P quantities... he found a buffalo wing sauce to eat his with... I generally add a salad dressing or salsa or the like to flavor mine... but it really helps a lot to have healthy food prepped and ready to go/easy to grab in the refrigerator rather than picking less healthy choices or going out for who knows what.

Tomorrow I'll be slow cooking a pot roast (with very minimal potatoes & carrots for accompaniment!) and buying a bunch of lettuce to prep for salads to eat during the week.

I don't know what your dietary challenges are, but my goal for now is to make sure I have enough healthy carbs to go with the protein. I'm working to get my husband to eat more protein which should reduce his unhealthy carb consumption... a later step will be working to get him to eat more healthy carbs along the way, but I'll take what progress I can get for now... baby steps, but still moving forward in a healthy direction overall :)

  3. good job Mary and Phil! If you have a bad meal on vacation, Phil, get back on the wagon the next meal, don't give up!

Did 80% again myself today, so I'm hanging in there.
